Advent Calendar 2022

Sadly, today Big Star seem to be mainly remembered for everything that went wrong with their career. Their albums received excellent reviews when first released, but, mainly because of distribution problems, they sold next to nothing. Jesus Christ is a case in point: it was recorded for their third album, somewhat literally entitled Third, in 1974, which wasn’t released until 1978, several years after the band had split up. Jesus Christ itself was issued as a single; needless to say, it wasn’t a hit. A shame, but it has been covered many times since then.
