If you're an ABBA fan, you will be familiar with the brief but elegant descending guitar line towards the end of the Mamma Mia chorus, between the phrases ‘mamma mia’ and ‘now I really know’. The guitarist who both invented and played that line is Finn Sjöberg, who contributed to a number of ABBA recordings in the mid-1970s. He also toured extensively with the group, November 1974-January 1975 and then on the 1977 tour of Europe and Australia.
Some of Finn Sjöberg's photos from the 1977 tour of Australia.
His book Med plektrum i fickan ("With a guitar pick in my pocket") was published in April 2023, and has no less than 14 fascinating pages covering his adventures with ABBA, including many photographs from the 1977 tour. I believe that, if you want him to, Finn will sign the books that you buy directly from him. Moreover, although the book is in Swedish, he is also willing to supply you with an English translation of the ABBA chapter. Order the book by contacting Finn at finn@fsdm.se.
