I'm very pleased to report that I have now completed all the updating of the forthcoming edition of ABBA – The Complete Recording Sessions 1972–1982. More about this below, but first I want to announce that if you want your name listed in the book as a crowdfunding contributor, the deadline for placing your order at Kickstarter is 28 February 2026. Please note:
• If your name was already listed in the book in conjunction with the crowdfunding for the 2017 book, it will remain in this new edition.
• The deadline for getting a signed copy is a separate matter. That deadline is not imminent. It will be announced later, but as of this writing I don't have a cut-off date for that.
Back to the book: All the fascinating new stuff has now been added to each and every chapter in the book. The final two chapters (1982, and the chapter covering post-1982 releases of previously unavailable recordings) are with my proofreaders and general advisors Ian Cole and Paul Carter for their review. There is still plenty to do before the book project is completed, but it feels great that the main editing is now done and dusted.
I am hoping that the book will be ready for delivery sometime in May 2026, although because of the complex nature of the project there may still be further delays; not several months, though. Here is a summary of the most important facts about the book:
ABBA – THE COMPLETE RECORDING SESSIONS 1972–1982: THE BASIC FACTS
• The book is a significantly updated and enhanced version of the edition published in 2017. It will be the ultimate edition of this book, which is unlikely to ever be reprinted again. So if you want a copy of the book, it's now or never.
• The book has become a reality through crowdfunding support on the Kickstarter platform. You may pre-order the book by "pledging" for a "reward" on Kickstarter: you simply choose the appropriate option depending on shipping area (Sweden, Europe, Rest of World) and then you will get your signed copy when it's ready for shipping (postage is included in the price). I hope to publish in May 2026; if there is a delay beyond that, we're not talking about several months.
• Mainly for space reasons, this new edition of the book remains devoted to ABBA's classic era. A detailed recording sessions chapter about ABBA's Voyage album is in my book ABBA On Record, which is still available.
• I haven't decided if I will publish an ebook version of ABBA – The Complete Recording Sessions 1972–1982. If I do – and that's a major "if" – it will be text-only, with no illustrations. I will not be making any decisions about the ebook until the print edition is completed.
Place your order no later than 28 February if you want to be listed among the crowdfunding contributors.
