Table of Contents

published October 17, 2018

The Table of Contents for the revised and expanded edition of ABBA - The Complete Recording Sessions will give you an overview of what the book has to offer.

The book is chronologically structured, year by year, as a sort of diary. Each main chapter has been given a heading, featuring a lyric quote from a song recorded during the period discussed in that chapter (in the case of 1983 And Beyond, the quote comes from a song released during that period, but recorded earlier).

Most of the chapters also feature additional essays and features, taking a closer look at a subject related to the writing and recording of ABBA's songs. These articles, also listed in the table of contents, discuss the following subjects:

• The methods for writing and recording ABBA's songs, explored in five extensive essays (Writing the tunes; Writing the lyrics; Recording the backing tracks; Recording the vocals; Overdubbing and mixing).

• ABBA's all-important engineer, Michael B. Tretow.

• The most frequently used session musicians.

• The recording studios mainly used by ABBA.

• The electronic keyboards most frequently used by Benny.

• Festfolk, the 1970 cabaret show which was the four future ABBA members' first collaboration, plus Kalle Sändare, a comedian who left his mark on ABBA's recordings in various ways.
