To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ABBA's victory with Waterloo at the Eurovision Song Contest, an ABBA exhibition was put together in Stockholm.

In 1999 I was involved in putting together an exhibition entitled ABBA - The Exhibition at Nordiska museet (The Nordic Museum) in Stockholm. The exhibition was created by actress and director Agnetha Ehrensvärd of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.

Although ABBA - The Exhibition featured rarities such as gold records awarded to the group, original costumes, Benny's first accordion, his Yamaha GX 1 synthesizer - first used on the Voulez-Vous album, then featured heavily on the Super Trouper and The Visitors albums - and many other interesting items, the purpose of this venture was not so much to display a lot of memorabilia, but to be a reflection on ABBA as a phenomenon in the Seventies.

My main function was to provide information on the hows, whens and wherefores of ABBA's story, providing texts and quotations culled from my own interviews with the ABBA members, as well as from books and older interviews. I also put together a chronology of ABBA's history to be handed out to exhibition visitors.

Perhaps the most popular feature of ABBA - The Exhibition was Anders Hanser's slide show, ABBA - The Pictures. Click on the link to Anders' ABBA page, then on "ABBA - The Pictures" to view an excerpt from the slide show.

ABBA - The Exhibition was officially opened at Nordiska museet on November 7, 1999, opening for the public on November 9. It was originally meant to run throughout the year 2000 but due to the success of the event it was extended to October 28, 2001.
